Most of history is seen in black and white, but some photos are rejuvenated and improved with color - or maybe not.
Colorizing a black and white photo can bring it into the modern age, and help us see figures of the past as people not so different. At the same time, it can get rid of shadows, flatten subjects out, and sometimes just turn things plain weird. Seeing a photo of Abraham Lincoln with light in his eyes makes him look really odd - and he wasn’t a normal looking guy to begin with.
